Sweet job alert: Full-time panda nanny, or ‘au bear’

China has two big advantages over the US: 1) $1.2 trillion in American debt and 2) the most pandas of any country. There’s not much you can do about the former, but you can get directly involved with the latter. The Chinadaily USA reports that China’s Giant Panda Protection and Research Center in Sichuan province is looking for a full-time panda nanny for a year-long position. The PRC GPPRC is turning their eyes to the outside world for applicants, so you may have a shot at getting this fantastic job being people parents to panda pups.

They’re looking for someone with good writing skills and the ability to take pictures, so it seem this is more of an international outreach position than an au bear job. The salary is equivalent to just $32,000 for the year, but you get an SUV, free meals, free housing and you get to hang out with pandas. Considering that all of the current panda nannies are volunteers, this is a giant (panda) step up in compensation.

To apply, visit this horribly confusing site and submit your info by June 15. They have more than 100,000 applicants already, but so does that three-month temporary $15K/year administrative assistant job here in New York that you’d be perfect for if only they’d give you a freaking interview even over the phone would work oh god another rejection mom can I please have some more money for groceries. So what the hell, right?
