Get Mets tickets to see Zack Wheeler, future ace, for 50% off

Usually a Groupon for cheap Mets tickets causes us to make a bunch of cheap jokes at the team’s expense. But a funny thing has happened since they were 15 games under .500 at the beginning of the season and everything looked hopeless: the Mets remembered they were a baseball team.

People say it all turned around on the day when Matt Harvey and Zack Wheeler pitched a doubleheader back-to-back and they’re probably right, since the Mets have gone 30-25 since that day in June. So now suddenly, a Groupon offering 50% off tickets to see the Mets when Zack Wheeler is scheduled to pitch sounds like a bargain instead of a punishment.

There are a few games you can pick from in the Groupon offer, August 23, 25, 26 and 29. On August 29, you can snag yourself $9 tickets to see the Mets take on the Phillies in a battle for third place, which is actually pretty exciting for Mets fans this year. The tickets on August 23 and 25 are for games against the Tigers but don’t get any lower than $16.

It’s the game on August 26 though, where the treasure is. On that day, young Zack Wheeler takes his blazing fastball and slight problems with control up agains the Phillies and creaky old Cliff Lee. Wheeler, a huge piece of the future for the Mets, has been showing people the talent the Mets said he had, and you can see for yourself what he’s all about with $29 outfield box seats or $17 left field awning seats. Both of those offers are half-off, and we’ll tell you a secret: despite Wheeler starting, there still probably won’t be anyone there and you’ll probably be able to sneak down to better seats. Next year though? The house will be packed to see a Zack Attack.
