No one likes those friends who feel the need to pedantically correct grammar mistakes. It’s one thing if you’re writing a college paper, it’s entirely different if you’re on a message board or you’ve sent an email and someone replies “It’s ‘you’re,’ not ‘your.'” But internet food-delivery service Seamless reacted as well as you could for being called out on grammar mistakes, by introducing a grammar-based discount code.
After a poster on the internet hive-mind Reddit posted the above picture of someone correcting the grammar on one of their subway ads, Seamless responded in a clever way that can also save you dough: if you order food and use the code GRAMMAR10 on any order over $12, you get a whole ten dollars ten percent off your order. Not Ten percent. not, ten dollars. [UPDATE: This was so popular they had to change it up.]
This is an impressive response by Seamless, given that they could have just ignored it or tried to get the poster busted for vandalism. Or even just responded with the this Kurt Vonnegut quote: “Here is a lesson in creative writing. First rule: Do not use semicolons. They are transvestite hermaphrodites representing absolutely nothing.” The offer expires tomorrow, so use it quick if you haven’t had lunch yet. Or save it for dinner.

I just tried it and only got 10% off. Thanks for the tip, though!
Two colleagues and I got the full $10 off, but a fourth colleague also just got 10 percent. Seems the early bird gets the $2 greek salad.
Did not get $10 off. Booooo.
