Want a little more nature in your life? Yes, of course you do, because if you bring the nature to you, you don’t have to go out of New York City to find it. A win-win! So it’s a good thing the city is still committed to that whole “giving away a million trees” thing, and an even better thing that there’s a chance to get one for yourself this weekend in Bed-Stuy. So sign up to get one.
This next giveaway is on Saturday, October 26 from 11am to 1pm, at the Pratt Area Community Council (241-245, Bed-Stuy). Getting a free tree is as simple as applying for one and telling the NY Restoration Project that you’ll take good good care of it. And why wouldn’t you? Trees are awesome.
The other thing you need to do is promise you’ll plant the tree somewhere you’ve actually got the legal authority to plant trees, so now weird revenge plot against your neighbor by putting it in their backyard. But, you do get your choice of tree, be it the American hazelnut tree, American plum, Pagoda Dogwood or Serviceberry. If you don’t have the space for it, but you’re part of a church group, community garden or have a hookup in front of a business, you can also get a tree to put there instead of at your apartment. And who knows, maybe you’ll accidentally be handed a Ticket Oak and will never have to pay for a show ever again.
