Hey guys, remember when micro-apartments were just a tack on Bloomberg’s vision board, a haze on the small-batch horizon? Well, the ex-mayor’s dream has finally become a reality, with My Micro NY, an entire apartment complex of tiny apartment units measuring 360 sq. feet or less now taking applications for its affordable housing units.
A couple years ago, when we first got wind that these tiny pieces of real estate were coming, we decried their $950 price tag. Real estate being what it is, though, and Manhattan being what it is, it now looks like $950 is a pretty sweet for these modular units, which were assembled in our very own Brooklyn Navy Yard and delivered to their (and maybe your) new Manhattan home at 335 E. 27th Street, in Kips Bay.
The units may be small, but the building has some pretty sweet amenities: a virtual doorman, bike storage, a fitness center, roof access, and other normal-sized, communal rooms that will keep you from feeling claustrophobic in your micro-apartment.
Interested? Cool, here’s what you need to know: you’ve got to make between $34,526 and $48,350 a year. And there are only 11 of these little $950 studios available, so you better act fast. Apply online today! You know, before folks like the Borrowers and the Whos beat you to the punch.
