Bunna Cafe, the nomadic vegan Ethiopian restaurant that has travelled from Smorgasburg to private Brooklyn events to indoor markets is now ready to move into its permanent home at 1084 Flushing Avenue in Bushwick.
But they need your help in providing a little bit of seating. So, they’re asking for someone out there to donate their couch to them, in exchange for steamed kale, obviously.
Bunna Cafe is looking for someone to donate a 70″ or smaller couch, slightly old-ish, with a visible wood finish and absolutely no bed bugs. “Like what you would find in you 50-something spinster aunt’s house… ” Bunna co-owner Sam Saverance said. Dinner for two will be provided in exchange for the furniture you probably need to get out of the studio you share with two too many people, and maybe you can even eat the complimentary Ethiopian meal on your ex-couch.
The new restaurant is also looking for greenery (legal variety). They want to do a plant foster care program, where people can lend Bunna their plants for a few months. “It will be good for folks that are going out of town for a while,” explained Saverance.
To donate, email Sam at sam [AT] bunnaethiopia.net, visit Bunna’s Facebook Page, or visit their IndieGoGo campaign, where a $25 donation will get you a free dinner and $6000 will earn you a trip to Ethiopia. Get the flu twice, and maybe you can afford the donation!
