This weekend: take the penny-pincher’s pilgrimage

If you’re reading this blog, you like a bargain. So you won’t want to miss the deals at the first ever Brooklyn Hajj this weekend, an effort to promote established and emerging businesses in the borough.

Don’t be dissuaded by the pseudo-religious jargon and oddball branding—this is one of those events where you buy a pass and get discounts on meals, drinks, clothing, bike gear, massages and the like. The “all-inclusive” weekend passport is $8 and good for various specials at businesses spread throughout Bed-Stuy, Carroll Garden/Cobble Hill, Fort Greene, Park Slope, and Prospect Heights.

Some of the better bargains include 20 percent off an entire bill after 4 p.m. ( sadly excluding alcohol, and taxes & tip) at Peaches on Lewis Avenue in Bed-Stuy, or 20 percent off all services at Park Slope’s D’Mai Urban Spa. For full details on this “secular pilgrimage” through our own cultural promised land all day Saturday and Sunday, visit the Hajj’s list of participating merchants.
