The end is nigh: official L train shut down date announced

Well folks, the time has come. An official L train shut down date has been announced.

Gird your loins: the apocalypse begins on April 27, 2019. As previously discussed, the L train will temporarily pause all travel to and from Brooklyn and Manhattan for 15 months. There are some fast and loose plans for supporting straphangers left in the dust, but no solid solutions that will help everyone. Either way, it’ll be a slog.

While we think Williamsburg needs a time out, it’s certainly going to be a long 15 months. If you don’t live in North Brooklyn, now is a good time to plan some day trips before you, uh, can’t get there.

  • Haha. Luckily the Williamsburg Bridge is a nice bike or walk away. Although I suppose when the L is shut down it may get Brooklyn Bridge levels of mobbing. :(
