It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Sweden’s greatest living legend, Robyn, and now that Lena Dunham’s done popularizing songs that were already popularized on hit TV shows for a bit, we’re left with nothing but an MP3 of “Who’s That Girl?” and a lifetime of bleach blonde, platformed memories to keep us disco-ready. Luckily, though, those Robyn dance parties we love so much NEVER DIE, and party-planners Silent Drape Runners are dropping another Body Talk-themed soiree at the Bell House this month.
That’s right: starting at 10pm on Friday, May 24, the Bell House will be transformed into a shrine to Robyn’s international pop supremacy. Expect all the usual fixings, like an open vodka bar, DJs spinning Robyn remixes, old classics and dancehall queens galore. There will be a performance by SDR band The Adventures, and even more pressingly, SDR’s using this Robyn party to fete fellow Swedish wunderkinds The Knife (remember them?) who released a new album, Shaking The Habitual, last month. Yes, someone will play “Heartbeats” (someone better play “Heartbeats.”)
The fest is totally free, and it’s the last Robyn party of 2013. Show up, or you can’t hang with me.
