There’s no shortage of famous people you can run into on the street in Brooklyn. My friend rang up Alexis Bleidel at Trader Joe’s once while I made fun of his bagging skills to try to throw him off. Anyway. While there are famous people all around us, it’s still cool to be able to see them down at our level, in a small back room in a bar in Williamsburg. Which is exactly where you’ll find Steve Buscemi on Thursday night, as a guest on the Kevin Corrigan Show at Over the Eight (594 Union Avenue, Williamsburg).
We know, two famous people! Three if you count Janeane Garofalo, who’s also going to be a guest on the show, and of course should be counted because she’s also famous. What exactly is the Kevin Corrigan show? According to BrooklynVegan, it’s a production put on by The Talk Show Series Presents, which has put on other shows at Over the Eight featuring the likes of Michael Marona and Danny Tamberelli and Jon Benjamin. Like the other shows produced in the series, this will be 100% free.
They’re giving the mic to Kevin Corrigan, the character actor you might know from Big Fan or as Community‘s conspiracy-entangled Professor Sean Garrity, on Thursday and Friday this week. Corrigan in turn, has invited Buscemi (last seen in these parts hanging with the mayor before he was famous), Garofalo, Michael Rapaport and Jonathan Ames to chat with him over the two nights. As befitting a talk show, there are also musical guests each night, including Surfer Blood on Friday. Thursday’s show will also feature a secret special guest that BV is calling “one of the biggest NYC political figures of all time,” so we’re gonna go ahead and guess Jimmy McMillan on that one. He loves talks hows!
