No Twitpics please: Weiner’s seduction of NYC starts with Brooklyn

Legally not a sex offender, so still allowed near schools

After months of speculation and an official “Sorry for the dong pics” tour, unfortunately-named former House member Anthony Weiner finally provided some release to his saga by officially announcing he’s running for mayor. He did it with a video that emphasizes his Brooklyn roots and promises to fight for the middle class and was very careful to not mention the word “Twitter” once.

Like we said, plenty of Brooklyn, especially Park Slope. So, what do you think? He certainly can’t beat Jimmy McMillan for spectacle. Weiner is coming a little late to the game of trying to be mayor by being king of Brooklyn, behind Sal Albanese and Bill de Blasio, who hangs out with Vampire Weekend and Steve Buscemi for Christ’s sake. Plus de Blasio already has the uh, coveted (?) Timesopinion that he’s the candidate of the outer boroughs. All we can say is this: it’s gonna be a long, hard road for Weiner if he’s gonna get to City Hall.
