Join the Prep Line of Love at the Sandy Relief Kitchen

We hear volunteering gives you real sex a-peel

We’ve given some attention to New York’s slow but encouraging recovery from Sandy, whether it’s something like Fairway re-opening or the Wonder Wheel starting its season on time, but despite those encouraging signs, there’s still a lot of work to be done. But if you’re not an actual superhero, what can you do to help as volunteer opportunities fade to the background? You can do food prep for good at the Hurricane Sandy Relief Kitchen, that’s what.

The kitchen is still out there in at the Old First Reformed Church (729 Carroll Street, Park Slope), preparing and delivering food for people who still haven’t been able to get their lives back to normal in places like Far Rockaway, Gerritsen Beach, Staten Island and Coney Island. They’re looking for people to join their Prep Line of Love (new unofficial name) and to help deliver food.

The kitchen is open Wednesday – Friday, from 8am to 4pm, with the most help being needed between 10am and 2pm. Bored freelancers and retail employees take note. If you want to volunteer, you can sign up on an open slot in their GoogleDoc, or call Angela at (631) 525-1728 or Lina at (917) 783-0941. And remember, giving Sandy a swift kick in the face will be good for your health.
