It’s Tuesday, which is fine, we guess. Certainly it means that if you’re just learning about Montero’s going away soon, at least that dread isn’t combined with Monday’s existential dread. Other than that? Eh, not a huge difference between today and Monday. Except of course that the Brokelyn Event Calendar has new and different fun things for you to do tonight, different things than last night.
CREEP X: THE REVOLUTION
It’s kind of funny that a comedy show would go with the name “Creep,” since it seems to be shown over and over that comedians seem to have a problem not being creepy. Ah, we’re just joshing, all you comedians out there. We love you, what with all the jokes. We also love the idea of seeing people like Joe Pera, Peggy O’Leary and Mike Abrusci for free.
8pm, Over the Eight, 594 Union Avenue, Williamsburg, FREE
MOVIE MIKE PRESENTS: MORBID MOVIE MADNESS – BLUEBEARD
If you want a look at the horror movies of yesteryear, you can’t do much better than also getting a look at David Carradine’s father John playing a strangling-happy murderer in 19th century Paris. The good thing about seeing a movie like this is that even if you’re spooked by things like a closeup of Carradine’s eyes as he’s strangling people, 19th century Paris was so long ago that you don’t have to worry about his character getting you. Unlike Jason Voorhees, who’s very much real.
8pm, Morbid Anatomy Museum, 424-A 3rd Avenue, Gowanus, $10
JULY BACKFAT DOUBLE SCOOPED
Backfat is one of Brooklyn’s most consistently entertaining variety shows, so we figure that if they took a month off last month, they’re going to come back rested and twice as good. That’s just how these things work, scientifically. Also it’s how things work when you come back from a break with the likes of Jay Welch and Carmen Lagala.
8:15pm, 61 Local, 61 Bergen Street, Cobble Hill, FREE
RED HOOK FLICKS: BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA
Let us tell you something about our old pal, Jack Burton: When the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake, ol’ Jack Burton just looks all that in the eye and says “Gimme your best shot, pal.” If you don’t believe us, see him prove it tonight as he rescues Kim Cattrall from a cursed sorcerer. And do it while eating Khao Man Som Tam, which PokPok will be selling at the screening.
8pm, Louis J. Valentino Jr. Park and Pier, Coffey Street and Ferris Street, Red Hook, FREE
COVERBAND, 100ANDZERO, TALIBAM! HARD VIBE BAND
Hey, remember when those people made an attempt to levitate Vice‘s Williamsburg HQ? You can see them, Talibam!, in non-mystical action tonight at Union Pool. Unless of course you think of music as a mystical thing, which is between you and your weird hippie god. Either way, we bet Talibam! is fun.
8pm, Union Pool, 484 Union Avenue, Williamsburg, $10
Add your event to our calendar and you just might see it in lights one day
