BK Top 5: The best things to do tonight, from ‘Death Proof’ to outdoor salsa

Get some thrills tonight

Well, you did it. You made it to Thursday so you basically made it to the end of the week. My advice is to do all of today’s work AND all of Friday’s work, of which there probably isn’t that much. This way, you can go out tonight and enjoy one of these great things from the Brokelyn Event Calendar and then just pretend to work on Friday while you’re hungover. It’s like getting an extra day on your weekend!

LIVE AT THE ARCHWAY: WILLIAMSBURG SALSA ORCHESTRA
Nothing like a salsa party to really liven up your weekday. No, not the chips kind, the kind with the brass instruments and the irresitable rythym brought you by Williamsburg’s own maestros who put a modern twist on the genre. It’ll have cooled off by today so you probably won’t be soaking your clothes in sweat even if you dance. And sure, bring chips if you want, this whole thing is outdoors anyway, no one’s gonna tell you that you can’t eat.
6pm, Manhattan Bridge Archway, Water Street at Anchorage Place, DUMBO, FREE

HOW MAY WE HATE YOU?
Everyone who’s ever worked in the service industry has some stories they could tell you about dealing with some horrible customers. There are so many, there’s a whole Tumblr, How May We Hate You? (which we’ve written about) collecting interactions with clueless Times Square hotel guests. Tonight, Anna Drezen and Todd Dakotah Bricoe’s site jumps off the internet and into real life, with tales told by other service industry vets.
7pm, Union Hall, 702 Union Street, Park Slope, $10

HOW TO BUILD A BETTER BAND
Except in rare case like your Vampire Weekends or your Rebecca Blacks, building a music career is going to take quite a bit of work, especially if you decide to be the group’s fearless leaders. Hear how the bandleaders from The Brighton Beat, Tiger Speak and Broken Luxury do it, and then hear their actual music, because come on you can’t spend a whole evening learning stuff.
7:30pm, Black Bear Bar, 70 North 6th Street, Williamsburg, $15

STUCK BETWEEN STATIONS
Given that there’s so much agita related to everyone’s subway experiences, you’d think there would be more comedy nights named after subway-related mishaps, but Stuck Between Stations is that rare show. Fortunately, it’s also probably going to be funnier than your average commute, with folks like Will Wenner and Eli Sairs and a mystery special guest as your laugh train crew.
7:45pm, Pacific Standard, 82 4th Avenue, Park Slope, FREE

MUFF SOCIETY PRESENTS: DEATH PROOF
Female filmmaker pals The Muff Society know a good women-centric movie when they see one, so of course they’d spend an evening showing horror then badass female revenge flick Death Proof. And if it’s not enough to watch awesome car stunts, Kurt Russell, Rosario Dawson and Zoe Bell, there’s also going to be a photo booth with Death Proof-themed accessories and a chance to win some kind of prizes. All in  all, a better night than one actually spent dodging a lunatic in a custom stunt car.
9pm, Videology, 308 Bedford Avenue, Williamsburg, $5
