Snag a cheap place in Kensington, Gowanus and more edition

Real estate’s no joke, and it looks the market is gonna push its way and our way out into those previously overlooked L train stops and neighborhoods that seemed too far south. That said, this week’s roundup gives you everything from the deep-and-cheap options to the pricey-and-proximal ones. We even thought we had one in Williamsburg, like old times, but it rented before we could say “Sixpoint.

You weren’t planning on moving, but suddenly you’re going to break your lease for this prewar 4-bedroom in Kensington listed at $2,625. Numbers-wise, that’s just over $650 a head. Yet it looks like how I picture the inside of Gwyneth Paltrow’s mind. Elevator, laundry in building, and the kitchen has a dishwasher. Photos of a comparable unit, so check it out yourself to make sure it’s just as shiny. One block from the F/G at Church Avenue.

If you like the above neighborhood but you’re missing a roommate, how about this nearby Ditmas 3-bedroom for $2,300? No significant details on the listing, but we know that pets are allowed! Photos are pretty great across the board, and the $750/pp rent earns it a big green light in Broketown. Off the B/Q at Newkirk Avenue.

Now that you’ve dipped your toes in the South Brooklyn waters, let’s head a bit north: a 4-bedroom apartment in East New York for just $2,000. That’s an even $500 per roommate, which is downright delicious. The listing title claims 2-bedroom, but since every other indication leans towards the 4-bedroom description, that looks like a misprint. You’ll be in a prewar two-family home, so with any luck you’ve only got one pair of neighbors to contend with. Off the 3 at Pennsylvania Avenue, or the L at New Lots Avenue.

Scooting you back northwards a little is this cute Gowanus 3-bedroom listed at $2,800. Ugh, count on the neighborhood-cum-Superfund to give you a run for your money. But hey, a living room! It’s a railroad-style layout, but we’re told that every bedroom has a private entrance. Pet-friendly, too. So you know what? Nevermind the canal. Because with Four & Twenty, Crop to Cup, Freddy’s and South so close by—not to mention cheap produce mecca, Rossman Farms—you’ll never be without ample disease-free food and drink options. Off the Prospect Av. R train.

A 2-bedroom grows in Prospect-Lefferts! And it’s only $1,700. It seems pretty no-frills, not to mention no-smoking and no-pets. Bright southeastern exposures, though they aren’t quite visible from the listing photos. We’re also wondering might be wrong with the ceiling, that the agent took all of these photos of the floor? Do some fact-checking in person, because the price is right. Off the Winthrop 2/5.

Also on the 2-bedroom docket, this spacious number in Borough Park for only $1,550. Huge windows, a thermostat for the heat (thank god), and the super’s onsite if you ever have something to kvetch about. Not much to say other than that, but the photos and the price really can’t be beat. Off the 50th Street D train, a couple blocks away.

This is best of Bushwick that we’ve seen in a long while. A 3-bedroom duplex, one floor of which is a massive party basement! For $2,550 you’ve got shared yard access, a spiral staircase, french doors and a decorative fireplace. Not clear on exactly how many “additional rooms” there are, but it sounds like more than one. Pets allowed. Windows have been updated “for your comfort” (as opposed to what, the rent price?) and you might legitimately have 2 freakin’ bathrooms. Go and see it, we’re already getting real estate chills all over. Off the Knickerbocker M and the Dekalb L.
