50 Kent has free outdoor movies this summer

Like this, but in a different park, with a different view. via Nitehawk Cinema

Obviously the Brooklyn Bridge Park movies, with their location right on the water, are great. Hell, all outdoor summer movie series are great. Maybe though, you want more summer movie series right on the water. Well lucky you, because 50 Kent just released the schedule for their three free summer movies (with appropriately thematic musical openers) in partnership with Nitehawk Cinemas.

Like last year’s free summer movies at Havemeyer Park, Nitehawk’s found some crowd pleasers and some music to open the night on three Sundays this summer. O Brother, Where Art Thou? will be shown on July 20 with a performance from the Birdhive Boys, From Russia With Love will be shown on July 27 with opening act Morricone Youth, and the series concludes on August 3 with a screening of Three Amigos preceded by a live mariachi band.

Each musical act will start at 7pm, with doors to the screening up at 5pm. If you get hungry, vendors like Red Hook Lobster and Dosa Royale will be there to feed you and sell you booze, if you’re into that sorta thing. It’s first-come, first-serve for seating, unless you want to pay $12 for a VIP ticket for a front-row folding chair because you fancy. To be fair it also comes with a Brooklyn Summer Ale and free popcorn, but we imagine you’re excited about this because you like free stuff, not because you’re on rent strike until you get your doorman back.
