The presidential election of 2012 will be here before your latest jar of pickled beets ferments, and if you believe a recent poll conducted by CNN the outcome could be just as sour. Fifty percent of likely voters said that if the election were held today, they would vote for Obama, 47 percent said they’d vote for Romney, with a 3-point margin of error. That is one scary statistic!
The debate happening Wednesday is pretty damn important. If not to help you make a decision, then at least to be on the bleeding edge of the next Mitt Romney Meme. If you’re not going to Barclays to catch Hova, what else are you going to do tomorrow? With that in mind, here are some great places to watch the debate with like-minded (Probama) people, and the best drink deals to look for . (And tune in tomorrow morning now for the release of Brokelyn’s official Presidential Debates Drinking Game!)
Black Rabbit, 91 Greenpoint Ave. between Franklin and Manhattan avenues, Greenpoint
This Greenpoint fave, known for its trivia nights, is trading in the questions … for other questions. $3 cans of Guinness is the bar’s best deal.
Vodou Bar, 95 Halsey St. between Nostrand Ave and Marcy Ave., Bed-Stuy
Vodou Bar has a special drink for the occasion: Rock Obama (the contents of which were still unknown as of press time). It will be about $6.
Pete’s Candy Store, Williamsburg, 709 Lorimer Street between Frost St and Richardson St
You can indulge in a fancy cocktail for about $10 or tap beer for about $3.
Mo’s, 80 Lafayette Ave between Elliott Pl & Portland Avenue, Fort Greene
This Fort Greene bar draws in an eclectic crowd, a perfect place to watch the debates! They offer $2 PBRs, but if you check in on Facebook you can get $3 off any drink.
Brooklyn Winery, 213 North 8th Street between Driggs and Roebling, Williamsburg
The cheapest drink here is the Old Chub and The Crisp, both $6. If you’d rather go with wine, there’s a Hidalgo for $6.
Galapagos Art Space, 16 Main Street and Water Street, Dumbo
Dumbo’s super-cool venue is playing the debate on its ginormous screen (14 feet by 12 feet). Drinks are NYC reasonable (so not exactly reasonable): $8 across the board.
Pine Box Rock Shop, 12 Grattan St., Bushwick
The Morgantown favorite is hosting the first of its “Three Sheets to the West Wing” parties, to be held during every debate. Raffles, boozy bingo and drink specials are on tap, but don’t go if you’re a Romneyac. Seriously. All the funds from the events are going to Obama for America.
Commonwealth Bar, 497 5th Ave. at 12th Street, Park Slope
A self-proclaimed “pretty decent” bar, Commonwealth has FREE popcorn, FREE condoms and $4 Yuengling on tap. So you can get drunk, yell at Romney, eat and have sex for less than $15.
Pacific Standard, Park Slope, 82 4th Avenue at St Marks Pl
The San-Francisco inspired bar will definitely draw in the Probama crowd with good beers on tap for about $6.
UPDATE: Beauty Bar in Park Slope just added this watch party, which features $4 wine/well in the first hour and $8 election cocktails all night.
If you want to watch in a more intimate setting, check out Obama’s Find a Debate Watch Party map. Just type in your zipcode and voila! Add any party we missed to the comments too.

For the one or two Ditmas Park-ers out there:
773 on Coney Island Ave. and Sycamore on Courtelyou are supposedly airing the debates tonight.
sycamore is airing them? i thought they didnt have tvs...
yes, they must be bringing some in!
You omitted every blue-collar, right-leaning bar in Brooklyn (of which there are many). If sipping PBRs with gauge-earringed Obamaniacs doesn't sound like a good time, I'll be at Sandbar with the boys, rooting for a better America.
<(")
You mean the 47% of other bars in Brooklyn?
/I keed!
I've missed you Happy Penguin!
I hope that America is one without PBR, because that is one long national nightmare we need to move beyond.
MikNic Lounge down on Columbia Street will be showing the debates for those souls who are tv-less as well! Find them here http://on.fb.me/SyuTZk
Included benefits:
$1 pool table
$5 shot and Genesee beer special
Back yard with plenty of tables and chairs
Matt Torrey's, 46 Bushwick (corner of Ainslie) is showing the debates on 96"screen with sound.
