Where the grieving things are: Tickets available for Maurice Sendak memorial

Cartoon by Henry Payne/Detroit News.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is holding a memorial service for beloved Brooklyn native Maurice Sendak, and the Times tells us the museum is opening up about 100 tickets for the public to attend. To get them, you should send an e-mail to Sendakmemorial@gmail.com (two ticket limite per request). The paper of record doesn’t say whether the tickets cost anything, though we’d hazard a guess that they’re free because of this quote: playwright and Sendak friend Tony Kushner told the Times people who knew the author wanted to reserve some seats for the public “because his work meant so much to so many people, and it meant a lot to him that people loved” his books.
