If you’ve ever been at a loss for where to stash weekend guests and wondered about those hotels you pass on the way to JFK and elsewhere around the borough… consider investing in an air mattress instead. For no good reasons other than amusement and morbid curiosity, we perused the Trip Advisor reviews of a variety of budget hotels around Brooklyn. The Four Seasons they’re not.
At the Atlantic Motor Inn (Atlantic between Schenectady and Utica ), hapless traveler Anarat was “disillusioned and highly embarassed by the nature” of the joint and “would not recommend it for respectable guests.” When Tripplan1 got into the tub “there were roaches in it” and “the sheets had stains of blood.” Ramut noticed that “the crowd pouring in was much more local than tourists.” Rooms start at $132/ night.
At the Red Carpet Inn on Wyckoff Avenue near Centre Street, ClaudiaBalzac had “never stayed in a place so utterly devoid of amenities.” Her room had “no clock, no ice bucket, no phone book, no remote, no toilet paper.” Queenuwant’s room “reeked of smoke” even though the door had a no smoking sign, and “cigarette burns covered the blanket, and when I pulled the blanket back the sheets had “LOVE STAINS” on them.” Rooms start at $179 (!)
Steve 457 warns us to never stay at the Quality Inn Brooklyn (above) on Atlantic Avenue at Van Sinderen, “unless you are deaf and bring a body guard.” Others complained of the sound of the elevated train rumbling by, but Steph5058 had other concerns when she visited with her mother. “The toilet wouldnt flush and we sat and cried!” JuneJo did note that the staff “had the presence of mind to warn us not to walk around the neighborhood,” though. Rooms from $125.
OK, we’re convinced. How about a B&B intsead?

Can you do a piece on affordable (and cute) hotels and B&Bs in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area? I have out of town friends who want to visit, but don't have enough space in my pad for them to crash and I don't want to send them to one of those huge hotels right off the BQE. I'm thinking that there have to be some cute B&B's around.
The Wind Jammer on Emmons Ave sheepshead bay, I.E. Jammer.
What about the Holiday Inn on Union... anyone have people who stayed there?
