At this writing, I am tucked away in my local coffee shop, a steaming mug of joe in hand, happy tunes pumping from the speakers,watching the world outside blur away as the windows fog up from the steam of homemade chai and hot soup. It’s a warm oasis to combat seasonal depression, which will sadly be shattered when I reenter the horrors of February for work later. Brooklyn — with its drafty apartments and fussy heaters — is full of places like this: hidden spots that beckon you in from the elements, where one afternoon beer turns into three or four, where you bring a thick book and ask for a takeout menu. So we ask you: on this season of weather terror, what are your picks for the coziest spots in Brooklyn? The Flying Saucer is one of ours; so is the fireplace-lined Union Hall. From bars and bookstores to theaters and laundromats, where do you go when want to curl up and escape from the interminable winter?

Pacific Standard. Cozy back room with comfy couches, good beer, and board games. It's close to the subway so less snow trudging.
Tour of the L train: Wyckoff Starr @Jefferson St for anarcuties, Boulevard @Montrose Ave for college kids and "freelancers," Atlas @Bedford Ave for ladies and gents of leisure.
All wonderful, though at Atlas I feel ashamed and naked without a Mac.
Palace Fried Chicken on Manhattan isn't bad on a Friday night.
Urban Vintage in Clinton Hill/Fort Greene. Least pretentious place ever.. run by an incredibly sweet family.. delicious food and drinks
The Sackett at Sackett & 4th Ave. It's small but cozy and they have hot winter cocktails and board games. Really, what else do you need?
Variety off the L has nice bench, communal seating and delicious coffee!
Enoteca on Court St - always toasty with the wood-burning pizza ovens. Staff is super friendly and it's definitely brokelyn prices - you get a free mini pizza with a draft beer at the bar.
the manhattan inn on nassau and manhattan avenue in greenpoint. it's super cozy.
I agree with Caroline on Wyckoff Starr, after moving I was sad it was no longer my local coffee shop.
Now I have to find another one close to the Myrtle Broadway JMZ.
