FRIDAY
7pm: You know those twig terrariums you see at The Flea every week? The founders wrote a book and are having a release party tonight with Brooklyn Brewery treats and even a palm reader. Free!
9pm: This is the first time I’ve ever seen anything described as “swing/folk” music. Brooklyn Winery in Williamsburg is playing host to the quintet Djangos and Tangos again tonight. Free!
12:30am: Sing like a dirty rock star at Trash Bar’s free late-night karaoke (also Saturday night). Free!
SATURDAY
10am: It’s going to be 70 degrees, so you have no excuse to miss free morning yoga in Prospect Park.
All day: Dekalb Market, the Brooklyn Flea (in Fort Greene on Saturday and Williamsburg on Sunday) and Smorgasburg are all back open for the outdoor season!
3pm: Free beer, free food, free softball and a chance to fight Leukemia and lymphoma in sunny Williamsburg? What more do you want? Get to The Gibson to check it out.
4pm: Another secretive Cash Mob is in the works for Saturday afternoon to support a struggling small business, in Carroll Gardens this time. Drink specials to follow at a nearby bar.
6pm: One bar crawl not to miss: hang with the locals in Bed-Stuy’s new hot spots, with drink specials along the way. ($15)
9pm: A “barn-burning celebration” of dark beers at Brooklyn Brewery’s tasty sounding Brooklyn Blackout. ($20)
SUNDAY
11am: The zine is the scene at the first ever Brooklyn Zine Fest. Free!
12pm: Don’t have a cow, man: the Vegan Shop-Up is back at Pine Box Rock Shop! Check it out for loads of cruelty free free samples and other tasty goodness (vegan queso, anyone?).
2pm: Tea and cookies and words and authors at Powerhouse.
9pm: When nerds do karaoke, you get Nerdeoke! It’s a sci-fi singalong at The Way Station, with special props given to anyone in appropriate garb. Free!
10pm: Step away from the torrents for a second and go watch Mad Men among real people at Brooklyn Winery or Sheep Station. Free!
3pm-1am: Or you could go meet your neighbors at Bed-Stuy’s cozy Bedford Hill cafe, with discounts on wine and beer all night. Free!
