Kick it: Where to watch the World Cup in Brooklyn

So … you weren’t able to swing the cash to head down to Brazil this summer for the World Cup. But instead of being jealous that you aren’t laying by a beautiful beach and partying in between soccer matches, be happy you don’t have to look far to find a great place to watch your favorite team duke it out for arguably the most important trophy in the world. We’ve rounded up the best bars from all over Brooklyn to catch the games, without breaking your balls.

WILLIAMSBURG

Spike Hill
186 Bedford Ave.

Not just a place to see great live music, the games will be projected on a full wall and shown on HD TVs. Come dressed in your team’s colors and get hooked up with drink specials.

Banter
132 Havemeyer St.

Take a drinking tour through the World Cup countries with Banter’s World Cup, featuring a beer from each country. Get exclusive deals for the rest of the cup and be entered to win some supreme prizes. For those that don’t feel like participating, there are other great drink specials available.

Check out the games on a big screen in their garden, or stay and enjoy the game in the bar. Beer and different drink specials, depending on which countries are playing. There should also be some rocking barbecue, too.

The Knitting Factory

The venue/bar has a slew of specials to go along with its three eight-foot projection screens and four flat screen TVS showing all the games. With $4 Bitburger cans and $7 Milagro margaritas or Reyka lemonade, you’re set to watch every game here.

Radegast Hall & Biergarten
113 N. 3rd St.

If their sausages aren’t enough to entice you, their three giant screens, intermission foosball matches, and live polka event for the Germany vs. USA match on June 26 will make you want to watch at least one game here.

Over the Eight
594 Union Avenue

Cheer on America powered by $3 Budweisers during every game (yes, even when America’s not playing, since you’ve still got them in your hearts) while they’re screened on two flat screen TVs and from a projector. The bar will be opening at noon during the Cup, serving up Venezuelan street food courtesy of Santa Salsa and offering free foosball if you’re bored or your team isn’t playing.

Battery Harris

This Caribbean inspired bar will be showing every game on their projector. Opening early everyday will allow you more time to enjoy their $8 frozen drinks.

DBA
If you’ve had a hankering for Bitburger, DBA has $5 cans on special for the whole tournament—in addition to weekly specials.

The Gutter

Whenever you need to fill up time between matches, squeeze in a game of bowling. With their rocking happy hour, you won’t mind hanging out here all day.

Videology will be putting all those TVs to good use, including the giant one in the screening room, by showing World Cup games, and their alcohol and food to good use by offering $3 Sixpoint drafts and a special World Cup menu. Check out which games are slated to be shown on their calendar.

The legendary pizza joint is kicking off the tournament on June 12 with giveaways, foosball, frozen drinks and beer, and great food. If you want to start off the Cup with a bang, definitely check this out.

In addition to being open every other day of the week, the Bushwick Vietnamese spot will break their “No Mondays” hours to open on days when games are being played, and will roll out a menu of Vietnamese snacks for you to nibble on while watching some dribbling. Their full menu will be available Tuesdays through Sundays.

Soccer is played outdoors, why not watch outdoors? Rooftop Films and ESPN are getting together to show 20 games over the course of the tournament, starting on Saturday, June 14. You can get the full schedule of games that will be shown on a 20-foot screen here, but just try to remember that the players aren’t actually that big in real life

You’d think a bar named after the former home of the Arsenal football club would be showing the games, and what do you know, they are. Specifically, they’ll be opening at 11am and showing the games on three big screens, which you can watch/shout at while drinking European beer you won’t find anywhere else in Brooklyn.
