New York’s fashion scene’s pretty tough to break into, what with some of the best, biggest and most talented fashion minds barreling their way up the ladder ahead of you. But if you need a little leg up to get into the game, the city and 92Y are here to help: they’ve teamed up to sponsor a fellowship program for fashion-savvy young New Yorkers, and they’re currently accepting applications for prospective nominees.

The program is appropriately called NYC Fashion Fellows, and is a joint effort from the aforementioned 92Y and the New York Economic Development Corporation. The fellowship is one year long, and is designed for prospective bigwigs in fashion management; if awarded the fellowship, you’ll get first dibs on mentoring and networking opportunities, you’ll be able to take part in advanced workshops and career-building classes, etc. – essentially, the program will give you all the tools you need to be a top fashion executive.

To qualify, you must have to be nominated by a current or supervisor, which they have until September 30th to do. They’re looking for people with 3-7 years of work experience, who are employed at a fashion company in NYC and strive to be a top executive in the industry. Once you’re chosen by the fellowship committee, you have to attend all of the program’s mandatory  events, including the opening reception, minimum three seminars, minimum three CEO breakfasts, and a closing reception, you’ll also meet quarterly with paired mentor. And there will be some big names involved in the program: Macy’s president Terry Lundgren, Kevin Ryan of Gilt Groupe and Diane von Furstenberg are among the names on the advisory committee. Applications for the fellowship kicked off on August 1st, and you can submit them until October 22nd.
