The 2014 Brooklyn Bridge Park dance parties are here!

There’s nothing like a good outdoor dance party once the weather gets warm, especially if its a free outdoor dance party on the Brooklyn waterfront. Good thing for you then that the schedule is out for the Celebrate Brooklyn! Brooklyn Bridge Park dance parties is here, and that it looks awesome. Get your dancing shoes ready (those are just our regular shoes, but maybe you’re fancy and have dancing shoes too).

Starting on Thursday May 8 and then running another two Thursdays until May 22, Brooklyn Bridge Park will be transformed from “awesome park with awesome view” to “awesome park with awesome view and awesome dance parties.” The three dance parties all, starting at 7pm, will come with a different theme each week.

May 8 is the Global Dance Party, which will be overseen by Balkan Beat Box and DJ Joro Boro, and will come with belly dancing lessons, which are useful even beyond that night, before the jams start. May 15 will be the Electro-Jamz Dance party with Cibo Matto, Javelin and oh yeah, a DJ set from JD Samson of MEN and Le Tigre fame. Wear something neon to that one for sure. Finally, May 22 will be the African Dance Party, which will feature Sierra Leone’s Refugee All-Stars and Electrafrique w/ Chief Boima & DJ Underdog. In case, after two weeks of dancing, you still don’t think you can do it, there’ll be a dance lesson at that party from Iris Wilson of the Center for African and Diaspora Dance.

So, free up your Thursday nights in May, and gather up the courage to ask out that crush. Gonna be a lot of pheromones in the air those nights, if you know what we mean.
