Top 10: The best cheap things to do in Brooklyn this week, street trash edition

Have a face-meltingly good week.

1. Surely you’ve always thought your face was too empty, so why not check out Steve Girdrd’s evening of short films at Videology, Movies That Make Your Eyeballs Grow More Eyeballs? (Monday, FREE)

2. Brooklyn Comedy Festival is going strong all week, with super special editions of all your favorite shows. Tonight is the BKCF Night Train, with guest host Seaton Smith and performances by Myq Kaplan, Michelle Buteau, Kevin Barnett, Charles McBee, and DJ Jean Grae. (Monday, $5)

3. Suck in your tummy and head to powerHouse Arena to launch Alexandra Kleeman’s debut novel You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine, which Vogue calledFight Club for women.” (Tuesday, FREE)

4. Why should femmes have all the cabaret fun? Tonight at Bizarre Bar is BEEF: A Night of Manful Performance, starring drag kings K.James, KC Steel, Lee VaLone, Oliver Fist, and more. (Tuesday, $7 suggested)

5. Ethiopian popup-turned-restaurant Bunna Café has an ongoing world music series, Under the Grass Roof, tonight presenting Trinidadian steel-pan master Maurice Archibald. (Wednesday, FREE)

6. If you’re looking for a perfect combination of horror/comedy and NYC nostalgia, head to Nitehawk for Street Trash, a movie about poisoned booze that melts homeless men which was filmed in Greenpoint in the 1980s. (Wednesday, $15)

7. Known for its obscure and offbeat offerings, Williamsburg’s tiny quirky Spectacle Theater also makes unique trailers and movie posters for many of its screenings. Tonight, Cloud City hosts Vivid Stills, an exhibition of many of those posters, featuring work from dozens of artists. (Thursday, FREE)

8. There’s a lot going on in experimental rock opera Swarm: “a multimedia musical and visual homage to bacterial quorum sensing, the psychology of gentrification, and the way the internet feels.” (Thursday, $13)

9. Sometimes it’s hard to choose just one thing to do of an evening, so head to Secret Project Robot to see several different short plays: “_Jailbreak!_” by Saints of an Unnamed Country, “The Maids” by Psychic Readings Company, and “Never Odd or Even” by Title:Point. (Friday, $?)

10. It’s still Brooklyn Comedy Fest! Check out the BKCF edition of Late Night Basement, with Heems of Das Racist, Be Here Nowish creators Alexandra Roxo & Natalia Leite, Seaton Smith, and Dan Soder. (Friday, FREE)
