1. Who would possibly want to be at Art Basel where it’s all hot and gross when you could save your money and hang with endless artists right here? Celebrate your prudent decision to stay put by hanging up one of your works at the Living Gallery’s Not in Miami BYOArt fair. (Monday, $5 suggested)

2. The New York Obscura Society specializes in strange and fascinating things, from cemetery parties to unusual lectures. Tonight the group presents Sita Sings the Blues, and animated film about the Hindu text Ramayana via 1930s jazz music. (Monday, $12)

3. Storytelling shows are all the rage, but here’s a new spin: at Take Two, each story will be told twice—the way it actually happened, and then the way it should have. With Cassie J Sneider, Kelli Dunham, Elana Lancaster, and more. (Tuesday, FREE)

4. Never likely to shy away from a horrifying theme, Bushwick Burlesqe presents their latest show, Tooth Box, a vagina dentata competition. Ten acts will compete for the crown, including Reina Terror, Bixie Boxspring, Trangela Lansbury, and Minnie Crisis. (Tuesday, $7–$20 suggested)

5. Most of us have an abandoned collection of stamps or baseball cards in our parents’ basement, but some people never give up on those dreams. At Brooklyn Historical Society, the City Reliquary presents Collectors Night 2015, where a dozen people share their quirky passion, from mutilated currency to Broadway memorabilia to jarred animal specimens. (Wednesday, $10)

6. It’s a meeting of the minds at the Lit/Comedy Roundtable, where book people who like jokes and comedians who like books will chat about each medium’s influence on the other, with Katie Rich, Mike Sacks, and Sam Weiner. (Wednesday, FREE)

7. Before it becomes too cold to leave your apartment, take advantage of this month’s Dumbo First Thursday Gallery Walk, with 17 galleries open late and several bars offering drink specials. (Thursday, FREE)

8. Red Hook’s fabulous folk venue Jalopy Theater is hosting a five-day Roots & Ruckus Festival with 40+ acts on two stages. Tonight’s bill includes Eden and John’s Great River String Band, Tamar Korn, and the amazing Morgan O’Kane. (Thursday, FREE)

9. For a very different sort of music festival, head to Saint Vitus Bar where Issue Project Room presents Swedish Energies V: Nordic Edition, a two-day extravaganza of genre-spanning electronic and improvisational musicians. (Friday, FREE)

10. Why see a comedy show in a bar when you could go straight to the source? Crunk City takes place in Industry City Distillery, where you can sip super-small-batch booze while hearing jokes from Ben Kronberg, Mary Houlihan, Ryan Bennett, and more. (Friday, FREE)
