Top 10: The best cheap things to do in Brooklyn this week, breakfast for dinner edition

1. Nonprofit community biolab Genspace is hosting what promises to be a fascinating talk: Mars Ice House, an idea by which scientists from SEArch propose to build habitats out of ice on Mars to house explorers. (Monday, FREE)

2. For something just a tiny bit more insane, head to Annoyance Theater for Star Wars: Episode 1: Phantom Menace: The Musical, wherein everyone’s most despised film in the series is mashed up with the music of Annie. (Monday, $5)

3. City Reliquary, Brooklyn’s best home for obsessive collectors of the quirky and strange, hosts an opening for their newest exhibit, Like a Virgin: Madonnas and Madonna. Curator Kay Turner will discuss her obsession with both types of Madonnas, and showcase items from her collection of Madonna-emblazoned medallions, pillowcases, and socks. (Tuesday, FREE)

4. For their final evening of the year, the Society for the Advancement of Social Studies brings together lectures on Fantastic Journeys of History, from ancient exiles to legendary rock & roll tours. (Tuesday, FREE)

5. 61 Local hosts a benefit for urban farming collective Bk Farmyards, with local produce–filled snacks and drinks, plus a mini-market filled with artisanal products from the likes of Herban Apothecary, the Bioheritage Collective, and Earth Matters. (Wednesday, FREE)

6. Performance party mavens Hi Christina present Shorts, Scripts, and Onesies (With Cereal), a delightfully weird evening of short film, unusual performances, and many types of cereal inside a watch store. Onesies provided. (Wednesday, FREE)

7. Spend a delicious evening at Brooklyn Historical Society with Cocoa in the City, a panel of NYC chocolate makers discussing the history and processes of chocolate, co-presented with the Brooklyn Brainery. Tastings included, obvs. (Thursday, $12)

8. Or get in the holiday spirit at the Christmas edition of Sasha Velour’s monthly drag revue Nightgowns at Bizarre, with performances by Lady Quesa’Dilla, Miss Malice, Erika Klash, and more. (Thursday, $10 suggested)

9. Gather some pals and prove your nerd supremacy at Twenty Sided Store’s Star Wars Trivia. We’re not going to make a joke about the force, okay? (Friday, FREE)

10. Laugh for a good cause at the Brooklyn Comedy Festival’s Winter Wonderland—a comedy / variety show and coat drive, benefitting New York Cares andChambong, featuring Jo Firestone, Connor Ratliff and Mikey Erg, David Carl, and more. (Friday, $10)
