Just as entertaining are the crabby comments following the post: “If you’re that broke that eating for free at these places is your only option, then alcohol isn’t something you should spend your money on,” Hannah scolds.
“These snacks come with a heavy price: you have to be around a bunch of drunks to get them,” CT notes. “Anyone that pays five dollars for a beer is either crazy or has too much money, or both!!!” whinges one watertender3c John Callahan.
The chorus of cranks prompted one CL to wonder whether “the killjoys from the ‘Proof’ blog have migrated here.” At least one Times commenter likes to party: “Dear Frugal Traveler: Next time around, would you keep your eyes peeled for places where you only have to buy a food item, and all the drinks you can consume are provided free?” Kenneth the Menneth writes. “Now that’s the combination we’re looking for.” Amen to that!

I love free bar food... For example, Alligator Lounge in Williamsburg. Free pizza with your drink. And the pizza is actually really good and it's a small pan of pizza, not just a slice! You can't really beat that.
Hey, I too love free food and one of my favorite Park Slope spots just started a great new deal, also just down the road from Alchemy on 5th Ave. Aunt Suzies now has movie nights on Wednesday and Sunday, where you can get free chili or wings!
Sweet Ups (277 Graham Ave. btw Grand & Powers) in Williamsburg has free vegan chili on Sundays and free meat chili on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Delish!!!!
