: governors island’s first classical-contemporary music fest, rite of summer, kicks off with 40 musicians performing terry riley’s ‘in c’. colonels row, free.

8pm: oasis vs. blur britpop battle! plus, u2 and depeche mode tribute bands. the bell house, $10 adv, $12 dos.

8pm: rooftop films presents afghanistan war doc where soldiers come from, followed by a q+a and reception with the filmmaker and veterans. the first 100 veterans to rsvp get in free. old american can factory, $10.

10pm: the rub’s classic hip hop dance party celebrates its ninth anniversary at southpaw, $10 fellas, $5 ladies

SUNDAY
12-5pm:
celebrate independence day at sycamore with $5 bbq plates and $5 brooklyn brewery pints

6pm: the brooklyn cyclones celebrate the 4th a day early with a pre-game catch on the field (3:45-4:25pm) and after-game fireworks. mcu park, $8-16.

8pm: the bell house presents america: f*ck yeah!, an evening of bbq, beer, brass bands, burlesque and more. bell house, $10.

8pm: the red hook ramblers provide a live soundtrack to summer holiday-themed short comedies of chaplin, arbuckle and lloyd. jalopy, $10.

sundown: you’re the one that i want! grease screens at habana outpost, free.
