We can’t imagine a better way to spend the weekend than taking in art from over 400+ artists for free. On Saturday June 2 and Sunday June 3, these artists are opening up their studios and you’ll be able to engage directly with painters, sculptors, video and installation artists, photographers, printmakers, ceramicists, designers, architects, and more.
Plus, this uncurated event is totally, completely free and open to the public. Join a tour or go on a self-guided route solo (or with your best pals) and have an immersive, fun, and free weekend.
The weekend festivities will kick off with a Launch Party on Friday, June 1 from 7:30-11:30PM at Java Studios (252 Java St), including an outdoor reception, gallery show opening, musical performances, live painting, performance art, installations, video screenings, and three floors of open art studios. Craft beer by local brewery Greenpoint Beer & Ale and Hungarian rosé by Greenpoint-based importer Palinkerie will be served. It’ll be pretty chill.
Revel in art-filled activities all weekend long, but we recommend making a short list of hot spots to check out. You might want to plan ahead by viewing the gallery of artists who are participating this year, checking out the online map, or picking up a printed guide booklet from any of the eight info hubs:
- A/D/O (29 Norman Ave)
- Artist & Craftsman Supply (761 Metropolitan Ave)
- Brooklyn Art Library (28 Frost St)
- CutLoose (117 Dobbin St)
- Java Studios (252 Java St)
- Kinfolk 90 (90 Wythe Ave)
- The Lot Radio (17 Nassau Ave)
- Magick City (37 Box Street)
Don’t want to fly solo? Fret not, Brokesters. There will be local guides giving tours to show you art throughout South Greenpoint, Northern Greenpoint, The Leviton Building, and The Other Side of the BQE.
And that’s not all, there will be other art-filled activities and events hosted by the Greenpoint community. Kingsland Wildflowers Rooftop Drink n’ Draw, a screen printing color theory workshop, Morgan Fine Arts Studio Open House, and live music party at Pirate Studios. Go Green! Brooklyn Festival will also return with an open air art gallery in McCarren Park. Browse the events page on the GOS site for a full list.
Close out the weekend with a stellar wrap party at Northern Territory (6/3). It’ll be a sight at this rooftop party with beer, food, music, food vibes, and a view of the Manhattan skyline.
We’re excited for this dope art crawl that’s completely budget-friendly. Get inspired, save some sweet bucks, and see some new art this weekend.
