This weekend: fried cupcakes, Bushwick arts fest, Oscar parties galore

10am-3pm:
A big hit last year, the department of transportation will once again be giving out free bike helmets in Pratt’s gymnasium. Ride safely, y’all.

5-9pm: Thank you, sweet mother. FIPS and Robicelli’s join forces to correct Cupcakegate 2K10 by bringing deep-fried cupcakes to Union Hall. $4 fried, $3 not fried (but you’re coming for the fried, right?)

8pm: Lauren Ambrose (“Six Feet Under”) and her Dixieland/gypsy jazz band The Leisure Class perform @ Bell House, $15

SATURDAY
10:30pm:
“A Darwinian fairy tale in which monkeys and monsters beat the crap out of each other,” Craven Monkey and the Mountain of Fury returns after selling out last year’s Fight Fest. The Brick Theater, $12

SUNDAY
12pm:
Someone’s been very, very bad. Get schooled in spanking (with a hand, paddle, crop, whip…) at Babeland’s brunch. Free coffee + Blue Sky pastries too.

OSCAR NIGHT
7pm:
Watch the show with commentary from the microblogging site WitStream, hosted by Gabe Liedman (Big Terrific) and Jenny Slate (SNL), The Bell House, free

7pm: A Bavarian Oskar Party (Schuhplattler) with Leiterhosen, Bratwurst and German chocolate cake at Pete’s Candy Store, free

8pm: Cast your Oscar ballot at Huckleberry Bar to win a free bottle of Prosecco, DJ, free

All WEEKEND
Bushwick’s annual SITE Fest features 100 theater, dance and music shows in 30 locations spread out across the nabe. $5/show, $10/day, $20/weekend.

Get your last triple axels in at Prospect Park’s Wollman Rink before it closes 3/14. $5 + $6.50 skate rental.
