There is now a $65 Brooklyn brunch bike tour

Few things represent our modern city culture like brunch, bicycles, Brooklyn and the ability to siphon money from tourists who want to experience “Real New York,” so it makes sense that this sort of thing exists:  a Brooklyn-based bike tour company is now offering a “Brunch in Brooklyn” tour, so you can experience all the wonders of midday breakfast dining for just $65 a person. What a deal!

The tour’s headed by Get Up and Ride, which offers private and group tours of Brooklyn by bike, in addition to a “Classic Brooklyn” bike tour that takes you to Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Downtown Brooklyn, Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO. Their newest offering, the “Brunch in Brooklyn Bike Tour,” offers 2.5 hours of cycling and brunching, with three 20 minute stops: Cup on Norman and Oven.ly in Greenpoint and Whirlybird in Williamsburg. The tour also provides samples of Mast Brothers chocolate, and they’ll be convening for mimosas post-tour, although you’ll have to pay for those out of pocket at a discounted price. And organizers promise the trip will be like a “casual ride with your cool local friend” who takes you to “authentic, off the beaten path locations that only locals know about,” and then charges you $65 for it. And they don’t even take you to Bushwick!

Rides run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 10am and last 2.5 hours, which is approximately the same amount of time you’d be waiting in line for a brunch table at Egg.

  • I can't believe they don't stop by Scratch Bread, which seems like it was made for bicycle tourists.

  • Of course real locals can find their way themselves. But for visitors Getupandride is a great new way to see something of Brooklyn. People who are staying more towards South Brooklyn could also check out brand new Bikelyn Tours: four different open registration tours on Mondays and Tuesdays. Red Hook Tour and Prospect Park/Park Slope Tour are non-competing with Getupandride and very affordable ($39 and $49 incl certified sightseeing guide and bike rental).
