‘How I Learned’ moves from the LES to Union Hall

The real happy ending is this show comes to Brooklyn now. via Facebook

There’s nothing worse (there are a lot of worse things) than when an awesome-looking show or event makes Manhattan its home. We mean, it’s bad enough as we gaze longingly across the East River at Manhattan’s bright lights and know we’ll never live there, but to know the things we’re missing out on…it’s too much. So it’s with a great deal of delight that we greet the news that Blaise Allysen Kearsley’s How I Learned series, a storytelling series in which writers, comedians and other entertaining humans are given a theme and tell stories about how they learned something about that theme, is moving from the Happy Ending Lounge to Union Hall.

How I Learned The Language of Love is blowing in to Union Hall on September 25, as Rob Sheffield, Rachel Sherman and others talk about how they learned to get by and make love. So does this story have a downside? Well, according to the email that announced the venue change, it’s happening because the Happy Ending Lounge is closing. Forever. So if you’re keeping score, that’s approximately 150,000 previously fun places that the Lower East Side had that now reside in Brooklyn. We’re coming for the Mercury Lounge next.
