It might be hard to believe for all the bearded myopic hipster strawmen that live here now, but Brooklyn has been around for awhile. And it’s always held a fascination for people, even when Brooklyn was still playing second fiddle to Manhattan. Why else would Don Rickles be giving a tour of our humble borough to NBC viewers in 1968, in this video that Gothamist unearthed? It’s a throwback to another era on all fronts, from Rickles’ jokes to the grainy video to the music. But we still think it’s funnier and more incisive than the time Henry Alford gave a tour here.
