SummerStage 2014 raises curtain on its schedule

SisQó (pictured here at the uh, 2008 Country Music Awards), comes to Betsy Head Park as part of SummerStage this year. via Facebook

Each day we get closer to our promised hot and miserable summer (we’ll take any summer at this point), we get a little bit more information as to the fun things happening all season. Today? We get the good news that SummerStage is back and has a bunch of free (and also not free) shows for us. Get your very uncomfortable thong on and prepare to back it up all night long, because SisQó is headlining a show. Yes, in 2014, you wiseass. The full schedule of Brooklyn events is below.

RED HOOK PARK

June 3, 6:30pm: Ty Dolla $ign
June 4, 7pm: Mark McGuire, Marissa Nadler, Delicate Steve

BETSY HEAD PARK

June 10, 7pm: Duck Down BBQ w/Boot Camp Klik and Friends (Buckshot, Smif N Wessun, Sean Paul and more)
June 11, 7pm: SisQó

HERBERT VON KING PARK

June 18, 7pm: Salute to Hip Hop, with DJ Bent Roc, Chuc Rock, Dana Dane and Special Ed
June 19, 7pm: Algebra
June 20, 7pm: Jason Samuels Smith
June 21, 7pm: Choreoquest
June 22, 7pm: Whistle! A Tribute to Frankie Knuckles, Hands to the Sky

BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK

June 21, 3pm: Barlosolo Cirkus Company (Brooklyn Family Day)
June 22, 3pm: Barlosolo Cirkus Company (Brooklyn Family Day)
June, 25 7pm: Amber Wagner, Jamie Barton and Russell Thomas (Metropolitan Opera Summer Series)

So yeah, things are a little light when it comes to the Brooklyn events, which seems wrong considering that Mayor “Red” Bill de Blasio was supposed to be moving all of New York’s power to Brooklyn. But whatever, a free SisQó show and a Frankie Knuckles tribute are cool. If you’re the type that travels out of Brooklyn, some highlights for you could be hanging outside the outdoor venue at Central Park and listening to Beck on July 1 at 7pm and the free Mobb Deep show at Queensbridge Park on July 17 at 7pm. This is of course, just the first drop in the bucket of fun summer things, so let’s start getting really really excited.
