Ahh, summer in the city: the rats crawling through the cafes, the mosquitos buzzing past your ears, the hydrants pumping, the leases expiring and the rents higher than ever. Air conditioning bills skyrocket with the temperatures, and all you want is a nice cool place to rest your head. We can’t help you with the heat, but we can at least temporarily chill your nerves by providing you with some of the better priced apartment listings currently available on our rental service.
Is a studio still a studio if it has two rooms?
East Flatbush
$1,350/month
Studio
This is damn spacious for a studio, most brokers would definitely try to play this off as a one-bedroom (especially cause it kind of does seem like a one-bedroom?). Clean and sunny and allegedly quite close to the 2 and 5 trains, this is a nice spot for a couple or a single, although it’d be a stretch for two or more humans who aren’t dating.
The teeniest radiator in the world
Gravesend
$1,300/month
Studio
If we moved here, we would consider that adorable little radiator our pet and we would name it Tony and Tony would be ours. Gravesend is pretty deep, but the neighborhood’s got old school character and great food and this spot appears to be within walking distance of the F. You’d be hard pressed to find a studio this cheap, quiet, and well-maintained in Bushwick.
There’s a freakin’ dining room
Midwood
$1,375/month
One-bedroom
This is in a co-op, and co-ops are complicated, but they’re also a potentially very sweet deal, as seems to be the case here. That price tag includes gas, heat and water + this place has a bonafide dining room and a living room with not one but two AC units – that’s enough AC units to convince your friends to trek to your apartment in Midwood and hangout with you.
Penthaus lyfe
Crown Heights
$1,350/month
One-bedroom
It’s not actually a penthouse, but it is a top floor apartment with “king size bedrooms” so like same thing ya? Depending on where in Crown Heights this is, it could very well live up to its “underpriced” description, as it looks to be in good shape and claims to be close to the 3 and 4 trains.
Cutey patooty prewar details
Bensonhurst
$1,400/month
One-bedroom
Those moldings are adorable, as are the questioningly functional but definitely interesting bedroom closets. The kitchen doesn’t boast too much counter space, but the rent ain’t too damn high either, so go invest in some movable Ikea surfaces if you need that added vegetable chopping room.
Not much, but nice
Flatbush
$1,395/month
Studio
No brokers fee, in-building laundry and all utilities included. Looks small but there’s sunlight and on-site parking plus a decently sized bathroom, so not shabby.
Covered in chrome
Gravesend
$1,400/month
One-bedroom
That kitchen is ready for Valhalla. Another Co-op; the layout here is interesting, it’s an elevator building and there’s apparently a basement.
Teeny pictures, bigger apartment
Sunset Park
$1,400/month
One-bedroom
Shiny like new! This spot looks quite spiffy, although the itty bitty photos make it a bit hard to tell. It’s near Maimonides in case you ever get hurt / are the kind of person who lives in constant fear of getting hurt, and you may come to find the D is a shockingly reliable train.
