Hey, all you budding playwrights out there, with Google Drives just bursting at the seams with yet-to-be-produced material. Yes, you! Here’s an opportunity to hear your talented writings out loud, without having to schlep all the way up to Midtown Manhattan. Casa de Beverley, a community and arts space in Ditmas Park, is accepting submissions for another One Acts and Snacks, their staged reading series with actors (and free snacks).
Plays must be 20-45 minutes in length, can’t have more than five characters, and shouldn’t have been produced or performed before. You have to be able to attend the reading, too. But you were going to do that anyway, right? The readings will take place at Casa de Beverley on September 19 (off the Beverly Q, actual address provided to ticket-holders).
Don’t wait to start culling your notebooks for worthy material: the deadline for submissions is this Sunday, August 30. Interested? Go ahead and submit your burgeoning dramatic opus! Plenty of writers are hiding out in South Brooklyn to hone their craft these days, so you can network with like-minded creatives. And who knows? You might just rub shoulders with a producer who wants to make your play happen.
