We recently discovered that NYC has a DUMPLING festival, a unique opportunity to eat as many balls of doughy goodness as possible. The 2015 Chef One NYC Dumpling Festival is headed to Sara D. Roosevelt Park this Saturday on the first ever National Dumpling Day, from 12-5 p.m.

The annual event features dumplings from around the world. Admission is free, but we recommend investing in a tasting ticket ($20, cash only) which entitles you to four servings from any participating restaurant or booth at the Festival and serve as your entry into the raffle to win some amazing prizes. There will also be live performances, a photo booth, and a dumpling-making class.

If you’re famous for your speed-eating skills, make sure to check out Chef One’s 12th Annual Dumpling Eating Contest. Contestants from around the country will by vying for a $2,000 prize as they attempt to upset the previous record of 90 dumplings in two minutes! World-famous competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi will be serving as one of the judges.

And you can feel good about stuffing your face, because you’ll be gorging on dumplings for a good cause. All of the proceeds from the festival will be donated to the Food Bank For New York City. The previous Dumpling Festival raised enough money to prepare over 200,000 meals.
