Spike Lee just Instagrammed a tribute to Eric Garner now hanging outside 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks (75 South Elliot Place) headquarters, his production company in Fort Greene. The piece, by Adrian Franks features a large portrait of Garner and includes his now devastatingly familiar cry for help, “I Can’t Breathe.” Garner was killed three weeks ago in Staten Island when NYPD officers placed him in a chokehold while arresting him for allegedly selling untaxed cigarettes. The NYPD prohibits use of chokeholds during arrests.
