You’ve been playing a bunch of dingy clubs for an audience of just your friends and the mice that live at the clubs. And sometimes just the mice. It’s time you took your folk rock electroclash wave band to the people. But instead of setting up shop on some corner and being chased off, you should just register to be part of Make Music New York, and you can play in public without someone giving you a ticket. Besides the fact that you insist on performing in the nude.
In case you were wondering, yes, us hyping MMNY is part of our conspiracy to make summer come quicker, as the street music festival takes place on June 21. Wherever you turn, you’ll find plenty of people playing music outdoors in some prime New York areas, on sidewalks, in parks, at block parties. There’ll be a great honking all over the five boroughs, and for once, it won’t be because of Robert Moses’ poorly designed infrastructure.
If you want in, you’ll need to sign up here by April 29. There’s no limit or anything on the genres accepted in the festival, so don’t worry about being too weird for the organizers. Unless that’s what you’re trying to do, but come on, be an adult about this.
