You know what they say: if you can’t make it in the real world, make it on reality TV. Well, we’re not sure if anyone actually says that, but it sure seems to be true. And that’s great for all you designers out there, because Project Runway is casting for their next season. A reality show gig could get your name and your work out there, whether or not that’s a good thing is up to you. Either way, it’s all about shooting for the stars right? Right.
How Project Runway has managed to stretch enough material to get to a twelfth season, perhaps we’ll never know, but they’re making it, and now, so can you. To apply, you must be at least 21 years of age, possibly so that you can get (legally) drunk and dramatic in the true style of reality TV, and you must not make over $500,000 a year as a designer, because at that point what the hell do you need to be on a TV show anyway, you big fame-monger. For everyone else, there’s nothing to lose. I mean, you could end up in a reality TV sinkhole…or you could show your stuff at New York Fashion Week.
In addition to a digital portfolio, and two recent photos of yourself, applicants must also send a 3-5 minute personal video, preferably in the style of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. All materials must be mailed, not emailed, so there’s no time to waste now that Saturdays are cancelled.
The deadline is Monday, and casting calls are soon after, so use this weekend to get your shit together, and make it work.
