Do you live adjacent to the rockinest Superfund site in South Brooklyn? If so, come join your fellow Gowanus residents (Gowanusites? Gowanai?) at Bridging Gowanus’ Community Planning Meeting on Monday, December 9 from 6:30pm-8:30pm, at PS 372 (512 Carroll Street). What makes this meeting special is the focus on land-use and long term planning on the neighborhood of Gowanus, not just the usual laundry list recitation of STIs found in the Canal itself.
This is a big deal, because there’s ample opportunity to influence future de Blasio administration plans for the neighborhood, as the meeting is hosted by all of the elected officials in the Gowanus region: Council Member Brad Lander, Council Member Stephen Levin, Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, Assemblywoman Joan Millman, and State Senator Velmanette Montgomery. This is your opportunity to tell the government how you REALLY feel about high rise luxury developments, hurricane zones, Whole Foods and/or the 8,904 hotels on Third Avenue. Toxic fumes producing other ideas in your brain? Share ‘em on Monday!
