Ice skating in Prospect Park is cheaper this year

You should get one of these nice passes and skate all winter long, ya hear?

Nothing cures the seasonal blues like getting out on the ice and shredding a few laps with friends. Falling on your face in public also builds character. In any case, ice skating season has arrived! And it’s shaping up to be as wallet-friendly as it is fun.

The Lefrak Center at Lakeside is open for ice skating season thru March 2016, and their seasonal passes gives you unlimited skating until March 27, when they switch back over to a roller rink. And lucky you, the passes are cheaper than they were last year. Like, a lot cheaper.

An individual seaon’s pass will only run you $100 this year, whereas it cost $120 in 2014. Family passes have gone down to $325 from last year’s $400. But the best deal is unarguably the couples’ skate: a dual pass now only costs $175, down from $216 last year. If you’re lucky enough to have a partner who shares your mailing address—you could probably fudge it, though—then this is definitely the way to go. Lefrak doesn’t offer a student pass anymore.

These season’s passes aren’t just for skating, either: they also get you discount’s at LeFrak’s Bluestone Café, a $25-50 discount on birthday party packages, half off skate sharpening, and unlimited skate rental/bag check.

If you can’t make the season-long commitment, there’s always regular old day-of admission: $6 on weekdays, $8 on weekends. (But if you multiply the average day rate by the number of days you can skate in the season, you’d end up paying around $1,200 to skate every day. So if you’re even considering going more than once or twice, the season’s pass is pretty much the sweetest deal out there.)

Happy shredding, kids.
