Brooklyn Bridge Park’s free pop-up pool will open for the season tomorrow

Nothing says New York summer like swimming in cool chlorinated waters adjacent to shipping containers at the heart of a public-private park. Arguably the poster child for Niu Brooklyn’s urban chic brand of bougie-tude, the pop-up pool is opening for the season in Brooklyn Bridge Park tomorrow, Thursday, June 29.

The pool is just 30 by 50 feet, 3.5 feet deep at its deepest, meaning children and families are sure to abound. Due to the popularity of this, a fun free thing, swimmers are limited to 45-minute sessions of use, with only 60 people allowed in at a time.

That the pool is returning this summer is a fairly big deal, as last summer had been slated to be its last. Now, this summer is set to be the pop-up pool’s final one in the park – unless a petition can successfully keep it there longer, or even permanently.

Here’s the schedule for this summer’s swim sessions. Wristbands are given on a first-come, first-served basis:
10:00 am –10:45 am wristbands distributed at 10:00 am
11:00 am – 11:45 am wristbands distributed at 10:30 am
12:00 pm – 12:45 pm wristbands distributed at 11:30 am
