You can never spend too much time appreciating comics. At least that’s what we think, but every time we go into a comic book shop, you need to drag us out. There must be plenty of people like that around here, because Williamsburg’s Desert Island Comics has put together a new comic book festival in Brooklyn, the Comic Arts Brooklyn festival, and they got a couple of big names to headline it: Art Spiegelman and Brooklyn’s own Paul Auster!
Comic Arts Brooklyn will take place on November 9 in Williamsburg, splitting time between the Mt. Carmel Church (275 N. 8th Street) and the Knitting Factory (361 Metropolitan Avenue). Desert Island Comics is the main sponsor of the event, which will showcase the work of over 100 artists and publishers from the US and Europe.
What we know for sure is that Auster, Spiegelman and comic book writer and artist David Mazzucchelli will all be in attendance to talk about their adaptation of Auster’s City of Glass from weird novel to weird comic. As more info slips out, we’ll be sure to keep you abreast of it, because like we said, comics are just the best.
