It is very actively summer, and we are deep in the heart of summer festival season. Out in an up-and-coming little neighborhood called “East Williamsburg” (perhaps you’ve heard of it? Perhaps all your friends and enemies have moved there? Perhaps you lived there and moved out but still begrudgingly return for the shows and food?) in a great big bar and performance space, The Well, a locally grown outdoor festival is returning. The Out In The Streets music festival, born on a Bushwick street corner in 2009, is adopting the sprawling venue as its new home. This year, the fest will take place Saturday July 15 and Sunday July 16.
Out In The Streets fills a niche space in the NYC festival circuit and is far more affordable, grassroots and DIY than most other multi-day summer happenings (think Pizzafest, not Gov Ball). The fest also has an earned reputation for featuring some of the best up-and-coming acts from Brooklyn and beyond as well as quality local eats for a very reasonable sticker price. This year, a tier 1 weekend pass will cost you $25 (so, $12.50/day) or a day pass to just Saturday or Sunday will run you $15/per. Buy your tickets online while they’re still available (early bird tickets have already sold out).
________
The lineup includes Brooklyn grown Caveman and A Place To Bury Strangers, new local groups Acid Dad, Grim Streaker, Surf Rock Is Dead, and Journalism, and “high-concept chamber pop” group Cuddle Magic, among others. There’ll be 18+ bands performing throughout the weekend. The fest’s food offerings will involve a pop-up market food court, vendors TBA.
Get hype and pump yourself up for the weekend partay by listening to the Out In The Streets 2017 Spotify mixtape. We can vouch for its litness.
