The OfficeMax in Atlantic Center can’t rip you off anymore, because it’s closing

As one of the few printing and copy shops in the Downtown Brooklyn Fort Greene area, OfficeMax has managed to stay in business, despite consistently aiming for record lows in customer service and satisfaction. The negative Yelp reviews are actually so terrible that they put the store on star par with the Woodhull Medical Center, where reviews suggest you’d be better off bleeding out instead of ending up in the ER.

In light of this, it’s happy news that the OfficeMax is closing permanently on January 16, and that their entire store is currently up to %70 off.

Whatever the reason for the closure, it’s long overdue. For years, customers have been Yelping, tweeting and generally mouthing off about the lack of staffing and maintenance at this unhappy place.

This is to say nothing of the actual ripoffs, of course. OfficeMax is notorious for targeting the printer-less population with overpriced page costs and, more recently, an outrageous $5 per-page surcharge for printing out Barclays Center tickets

It’s unsurprising, too, that there was no news of the closure or its consequent clearance sales on OfficeMax’s Twitter page. When asked over the phone about the nature of their closing discounts and the remaining selection in-store, two separate sales staff brusquely responded with the same words: “You’ll have to see for yourself.”

So unfortunately, readers, you will. What we know, though, is that the selection is dwindling as deeply discounted office supplies and electronics are flying off the shelves, into the arms of the lucky few who saw the sale in person.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: the OfficeMax across from the Barclays Center is going out of business and it’s a freakin’ miracle sale on office supplies!!

Their last date is January 16, and they’ll be open 8am-9pm. Go take advantage of everything while you can. On the 16th, it’s curtains, and hopefully eventually a better store in its place.

  1. Well, I’m sorry for those who didn’t have any good services with Atlantic ave office max. I’ve never had to much of a problem with them. and they’re convenient as far as location. Be careful what you ask for. Besides, lots of people I experience going there DON’T read anyway. They just come in and ask. Without even looking for what they want. I’ll miss them. Now I have to go a distance to get my supplies. Oh well.
