Get $1 used books at the Brooklyn Public Library’s massive annual sale next week

Yes yes, reading on a Kindle is all good and well, but we promise it’ll be good not only for your glazed eyeballs but also for your screen-dependent soul to get a little more print into your life. Really, it is a privilege to be able to read a paperback on your subway commute to work – take advantage.

Now’s your opportunity to not only love your local library but also to nab plenty of reading material on the cheap: the Big Brooklyn Book Sale is back in town. Notably, it never left town, it’s simply only in town once a year. This year’s sale, thrown by the Brooklyn Public Library (which is great, even though it still thinks I owe money for a copy of Harry Potter I returned in 1999) will take place next Saturday, October 14 from 10am to 3pm on the Plaza at Central Library (10 Grand Army Plaza), which is the main branch on Grand Army Plaza – the one with the giant doors patterned with gold-colored figures.

________

The sprawling book collection will be priced at a universal $1 per book, and sales will benefit the library. In addition to the very reasonably priced books for sale, there will also be crafts and other planned fun for kids.

In the market not to buy but to donate? Bring any books you no longer want to the Central Library during open hours to donate them for the sale. You’ll get a tax donation form and also karma.
