Well hey, would you look at that? It’s February, and we’re not crying! Well, maybe you are. But thanks to unseasonably warm weather, an entertaining carnival of politicians and the recent blizzard hijinks, the shortest month of the year is feeling breezy and breezing by.
In that brightened spirit, we’re happy to share that it’s time for Greenpointers’ annual Valentine’s Day Market, home to all things love-themed and feel-good! This Sunday, head over to Greenpoint Loft for a budget-friendly day of free activities, delicious treats from local food vendors, and maybe even pick up a special something for a special someone.
As always, our favorite part of the market is the themed boozy beverages on tap: Brooklyn Gin is offering a Superbowl-themed cocktail, and Greenpoint Beer & Ale will be serving pints of their blonde ale and IPA. But if your Drynuary somehow leaked into a Drybuary, don’t worry: Café Grumpy will be there to provide a non-alcoholic boost.
_____________
FREE activities include dancing to love jams by DJ T*O*N*Y, writing your own love story with The Roving Typist, a graffiti art photo booth with Ben Shirai, henna tattoos by Miss V., feel-good face painting by A Big Silly Guy, tarot card readings by Lindsay Myers, massages by human@ease, and nail art by Peenk. Talk about cheap thrills!
And of course, there’ll be local craft vendors galore. So many craft vendors, in fact, that we couldn’t possibly fit them into this post. Instead, we suggest you fawn over the list of names on the market’s Facebook event, and RSVP so they know you’re coming. Proceeds from the day’s events will benefit two local non-profit organizations, the MOFAD (Museum of Food & Drink), and Greenpoint Open Studios.
The Greenpointers Valentine’s Day Market takes place on Sunday, February 7 at the Greenpoint Loft (67 West St., 5th Floor) from 1-7pm.
