Swing dance your singleness away at Greenpointer’s Valentine’s market next Sunday

Greenpointers holiday market in 2016. Via Greenpointers.

The world is a cold, dark, place with months till summer but that’s not stopping our friends at Greenpointers from throwing their annual holiday market this Valentine’s Day weekend. They’ve gone with a ye old-timey theme this year, complete with Prohibition-era cocktails, vintage jazz tunes, and most importantly lots of amazing local vendors, ’cause nothing is more timeless than independent businesses.

The old times-inspired market will be happening in real time next Sunday (Feb. 12), from 1 to 7pm at the Greenpoint Loft (67 West St.). RSVP here.  As always, there’ll be oodles of free shit, including tarot readings and, if the future stresses you out, complimentary Valentine’s-themed cue cards with astrological pickup lines.

With soaring wood beams and views of the East River and Manhattan, the Greenpoint Loft is a private event space that opens to the public during Greenpointers’ markets. Restored to its pre-war glory, it was once the home of America’s largest rope manufacturer and is worth a visit for a glimpse of Greenpoint history.

The market features face painting, nail art and personalized stories by The Roving Typist, who can often be seen around New York City, writing on command for the masses. You could also just come get massaged by Human@Ease if your back is hurting from all the shopping.

A few members of the Women’s March NYC Chapter will swing by with postcards and art — proceeds will go toward the cause. As well, Greenpointers will be partnering with local pastry chef Danielle Mcreynolds to sell delicious baked goods to benefit the ACLU. Ain’t no love like the love of progress.
